KKite flying essentially a solitary activity has taken on a new dimension when two or more people fly. Contests are held on special kite flying days. Kites which are more popular are flat kites with tails; and are being used by the people. Kite-cutting Battle: Cutting the rival kites off the sky by the skillful maneuvering is the most popular game. Winner team award is given to the team whose players usually are three; and each have to cut minimum three kites thus total nine kites of the rival team in the contest. One may lose the kite sometimes but the joy obtained is thousand times greater. It is said that the Nawab of Junagarh needed some 50,000 kites every year.         back
